Biaxial Carbon Fiber Fabric (BX‑CF)
— 0°/90° or ±45° Straight‑Laid Fibers · Simultaneous Main & Off‑Axis Reinforcement · Versatile for Wind, Automotive & Aerospace
1. Product Concept
Biaxial carbon fiber fabric (BX‑CF) comprises two (or more) plies of straight‑laid unidirectional carbon fiber tapes, stitched together with lightweight polyester chain‑stitched yarn. Available in 0°/90° (orthogonal) or ±45° fiber orientations, BX‑CF eliminates the crimp of woven fabrics, reduces resin‑rich zones by 15–25 %, and increases interlaminar shear strength by over 20 %. Ideal for structures loading in both principal and secondary directions.
2. Key Advantages
- Ultra‑High Specific Strength: T700‑12K fibers deliver ≥ 3500 MPa tensile strength at 0°, and ≥ 80 MPa shear at ±45°.
- Lightweight: Density only 1.78 g/cm³—¼ the weight of steel, ⅔ that of aluminum.
- Dimensional Stability: Coefficient of thermal expansion < 1.0 × 10⁻⁶ /°C; stable from −50 °C to +200 °C.
- Easy Lay‑Up: Available in 1.27 m, 1.52 m, and 2.54 m widths for continuous, seamless coverage.
- Process Compatibility: Suitable for hand lay‑up, vacuum bagging, RTM, prepreg, and autoclave.
